1.       LOVE AND ACCEPTANCE

Men; like women, feel a strong need to be loved and accepted for whom they are. Every man wants to feel like his woman totally and unquestionably loves and accepts him for who he is and not only for what he has achieved. Off course men also want to be appreciated for what they achieve but before that a man wants to feel like with or without all the achievement his woman would still love and accept him. A man wants to feel like regardless of what others think or feel about him his woman still love and accept him.

2.       ENCOURAGEMENT

Things don’t always work out the way we want them to and a man wants to know that he can count on the encouragement and support of his woman while men are at some level expected to know it all and to always be in full control of every situation, the truth however is that there are times when a man is as unsure of events or situations as any other person and at this time he needs the encouragement of his woman.

3.       NURTURING

Someone once told me that the best wives are those who know how to be a wife and a mother to their husbands. The truth is that I have at some time or the other actually heard some women describe men as babies and while I have often reacted to this statement with some resentment I have however come to find the statement to be true in a sense. Men are generally raised and suckled by the breast of their mothers and they seem to never actually grow out of the need for such nurturing whether it is at age one month or at hundred years old. The thing though is that while their mothers can’t always give them this nurturing all through their lives, their wives are actually at some level meant as able replacements with regard to the nurturing a man needs and crave for.

4.       UNDERSTANDING

Another need of the average man is the need to be understood. I must say here that women also have this need. A man wants to feel like his woman knows him more than anyone else; he wants to feel that his woman understands him even when others do not.

5.       UNCONDITIONAL SUPPORT

Life does tend to have its trying moments and a man needs to know that regardless of what happens he can count on his woman to support him and to be there for him. While I believe that a woman should actually always be ready to support her husband and that a husband should do likewise for his wife. I however would like to state that a man or woman owes it as a duty to their wife or husband to help in directing each other or advising each other in doing the right thing. God says he will answer our prayers if we pray according to his will. I think we should likewise endeavor to guide or advise our partners to pursue causes which are in accordance with God’s will so that we don’t end up supporting or encouraging our partners to do the wrong thing because if we do we may be sure that we will also bear a part in the consequences or repercussion of doing that which goes contrary to God’s will.

6.       THE NEED FOR SEXUAL GRATIFICATION

Men tend to feel a need to experience their manhood through sex. A man feels a strong to show his love for his wife and to share himself with her through sex. In a sense there are certain emotions that a man appears to find no other way of expressing to his woman other than through sex.
