1.       Selfless love flows like the waters nurturing all who would drink from it. Also like the sun, it shines on every evil as well as the righteous. Selfless love seeks nothing in return.

2.       It should be the basis of every relationship. If you truly care about someone, you should get more pleasure from the way you make them feel, rather than the way they make you feel.

3.       Selfless love is taking risk; right from the beginning, the price of giving selfless love is risking that it won’t be returned. Selfless love means to love regardless of your personal needs. You love wholeheartedly without any personal gain. Loving without any attachment to an expectation in return.

4.       Selfless love is patient and kind; it does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not exist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong doing, but rejoices with the truth. Selfless love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things and endures all things. Selfless love has no limit and it never ends.

5.       Selfless love is passionate and honest. It is willing to completely give up your life for someone to make sacrifices and put them first.

6.       Selfless love doesn’t demand; a person who keeps demanding things from you on the pretext of love is basically somebody who doesn’t love you as much as they claim. Selfless love doesn’t demand for things, they might expect a bit, but they won’t force you to do something for them or demand something endlessly.

7.       Selfless love doesn’t have high expectations; when somebody is constantly hurt by you not meeting their expectations. If the love is selfless, the person won’t have such high expectations from their partner, friend or relations etc. They will accept whatever has been provided to them. They might feel bad about it, but won’t make a huge story about it.

8.       Happiness of the person is all you want; when the love is selfless, true and real, you will always want the person to be happy. It could be that the person is happy with someone else. This might cross a dagger through your heart but you still relish that pain, because the person you love is happy in his or her life. You find your entire world in the smile and happiness of the person that you love.

9.       Selfless love feels the most pain. I don’t really know how to explain this to your understanding but I will try. Pain is something you feel the most when the love you have for someone is real and genuine. True love hurts the most. It pains your senses and your heart to the extent that you feel like killing yourself. You will hear something like; I just can’t help but love you, or I love you so much, it hurts. These actually make sense to people who are in true love with someone. They feel pleasure in the pain that they receive by loving you, and they become so addicted to the pain.

10.   Love is not forced upon someone; some people cross all lines of obsession and possessiveness by terming it as love. What they don’t understand is that selfless and true love doesn’t shackle up someone but empowers and enriches people and their hearts. It makes people love themselves and their lives and not regret being with you and choosing you as their partner.

11.   When your love is selfless you let go; selfless love is never binding. If your love is true and real, you let people go on their own path. You will let them pursue their career, their wishes, their dreams, and their prospective partner. You love them too much to be an obstacle in their life. You let go the person at the cost of your own happiness. That is exactly what selfless and true love entails.

12.   Selfless love doesn’t force you to change; true and selfless love never forces their partner or lover to change. They won’t find fault on the things you do simply to please them. True and selfless love accepts the person as they are, for what they are and their dreams, ambitions and happiness together. Selfless love means adjustment, means being happy to sacrifice something for someone you love. No wonder true love they say is hard to find these days because everybody is looking for what they will gain and benefit from.
