Long distance relationships are relationships kept by two people that are not in the same town or country. They could exist in form of courtship, engagement, or marriage. In this case, face to face or body language is out of place. You also miss out in the reassurance that comes from physical seeing and regular touch of each other’s body. Because they are the most difficult relationships, to maintain Long distance relationships requires a lot of work. Although we here lot of stories of disappointments, that does not mean that LDR’s are failures. A lot of people practice them successfully. However, due to the associated fear of the unknown, such relationships are not for the feeble-minded or the weak at heart. They are definitely for the strong-hearted who must have faith in the relationship as well as sound character.

For a long distance relationship to indeed work out well, those involved must get it constantly polished with reassurance of hope, trust and confidence. In other words, it must be built on solid trust and confidence. Your partner must possess the character you can rely on. A great deal of patience is hereby compulsory as well because without patience you will see lots of reasons to disappoint your partner. While you must be on the alert to handle any unacceptable move accordingly, you must not be over suspicious. Otherwise your partner will complain of your loss of confidence in him/her.

The world may tell you that ‘’out of sight is out of mind’’ but communication can be used to bring two minds together as if the owners were physically with themselves. This is why you must be involved in constant communication which can be done on phone or through e-mail. For LDRs, text messages should be exchanged as much as possible. Exchanges of surprise fax or postcard with short love poems can also make distant lovers or couples feel comfortably connected. In short, no degree of communication is too much for LDRs partners.
